Seeking Fellow Freemasons
I am looking for fellow Freemasons with the view of Founding a Lodge in the Seven
Valleys area. This would initially be in English but the aim would be to use French
once established. To date I have 8 British fellow Masons who want to join, plus
3 local French Masons. That makes 12 and the Grande Loge de la Province des Flandres
would like 18 ideally. They will then give the clearance for a Founding.
I have attended
several meetings here in France, in both English and French languages and have made
many good contacts. However, there is more secrecy here in France than there is
in the U.K.
Freemasonry is much more open these days and there is a wealth of information
on the web. This differs greatly from the 1970/80s when bad publicity caused the
Craft to withdraw into a secret society.
The aims of a new lodge would be those enshrined in Freemasonry; Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. Also, Faith, Hope and Charity.
A Lodge affiliated to the French Constitution would pay fees (a proportion of the joining and membership fee), into the Grande Loge Française. They in turn would donate to their chosen charities. That may be by Department or Nationally.
Local funds would be distributed to local charities and organisations, as decided by the members annually. As an example, in the UK my own Lodge donated to the following causes in 2007 and 2008. We will decided on 2009 donations shortly. Payments tend to be made at the end of the year. The list is quite wide, I'm sure you'll agree. We also give cheques to Lodge widows at Christmas.
